Ideology

I want to try keeping all the sounds within the Deluge as much as possible. Trying to use external effects on sounds generated by the Deluge and record back into the Deluge gets complicated, and I haven't really found a good way to do so. I don't like adding that much complexity, so I'd like to avoid it. Sounds from external instruments going into the Deluge can do whatever they want, though!

Shortcuts

Not an exhaustive list, just some of the most common shortcuts I need to remember.

More shortcuts here: Deluge Community Guide, v4.0

(...) Turn...
^... While holding SHIFT...
Then...

Loading/saving presets

Function Shortcut
load/browse preset folders [LOAD]+[SYNTH] , [LOAD]+[KIT]
new preset ^[SYNTH] , ^[KIT]
save as new preset [SAVE]+[SYNTH], [SAVE]+[KIT]
clone preset [LOAD]+[SYNTH] → (SELECT) to choose preset to clone → [LOAD]+[SELECT]

Song view

Function Shortcut
change section assignment ^[SECTION]
Move row up/down [PAD]+(⇅)
Solo clip [↔]+^[LAUNCH]
Solo arm clip [↔]+[LAUNCH]

How to...

Map MIDI input to parameters

  1. In a synth/kit, [SHIFT]-press the parameter that you wish to assign.
  2. Press and hold [LEARN]. While holding, move the control you want to assign to the current parameter. The screen should flash "LEARN".
  3. Release [LEARN]. The mapping is complete.
  4. To un-map a parameter, [SHIFT]-press the parameter, then press ^[LEARN]. The screen should flash "UNLEARN".

Set loop points for kit samples

  1. Select the sample in the kit view
  2. Press [WAVEFORM]
  3. While holding the green start bar, press any other pad. This sets the loop start point in blue.
  4. While holding the red end bar, press any other pad. This sets the loop end point in purple.
  5. To move either of the loop markers, press the marker to change and press where you would like it (the marker being edited will be blinking).

Euclidean sequencing

  1. Enter CLIP view
  2. While holding [AUDITION] of the row that you want to create a sequence for:
    1. Turn (↔) to set sequence length
    2. Press+turn (⇅) to set number of events in the sequence
    3. Press+turn (↔) to shift sequence left/right

Slice samples into a kit

  1. Enter KIT view
  2. Create a new kit with ^[KIT]
  3. Browse to the sample you want to slice
  4. Press and hold [SELECT] until "ALL" appears on the display.
  5. Turn [SELECT] so "SLIC" appears on the display.
  6. Press [SELECT]. The "16" on the display represents the number of slices (and kit parts) that will be created from the current sample. You can adjust the number of slices by turning [SELECT].
  7. Press [SELECT] to confirm.

If you don't like the loop points for a slice, you can refine them using the approach described above in "Set loop points for kit samples".
